Software Engineer I

Job Description

SALARY RANGE $124,000 - $181,000/year

DUTIES As a successful candidate for the Software Engineer I role, you will support a fast-moving software engineering team delivering several UI applications within a microservice ecosystem, contribute to a highly collaborative environment that encourages engineers to help drive system design, work closely with mission stakeholders and interact with customers daily with a focus on UI development, and leverage prior customer or user interaction experience to ensure effective delivery of solutions.

Required Skills

SKILLS

• Develop and maintain web applications that interact with Java microservices
• Work closely with the tech lead on technical decisions and the product roadmap
• Resolve challenging software engineering design problems
• Interact with customer to resolve issues and propose new features
• Support testing and deployment of production applications

QUALIFICATIONS Three (3) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity are required. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Additional Requirements:

• Experience with design, debugging, and problem-solving with JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with Vue, React, or a similar frontend framework
• RESTful web application experience
• Interacting with MongoDB or similar database technology; automated testing

Desired Skills

• Full-stack experience with a focus on Java or a JVM-based language
• Kafka experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Linux administration experience
• Experience with automated build tools, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
• Experience with AI tools such as Claude Code
