Job Description

Duties

  • Serves as the Installation Physical Security Antiterrorism Officer developing and maintaining the installations Antiterrorism Plan and reports.
  • Develops physical security policy, implements plans and directives, and assess program adequacy.
  • Conduct antiterrorism and physical security assessments for renovation and new construction projects.
  • Advise on antiterrorism guidance, policies and procedures as related to physical security.
  • Conduct risk analyses, vulnerability assessments, and risk management studies.
  • Recommend physical security measures to protect arms, ammunition, and other Army assets against misuse, loss, or theft.
  • Assists with the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of physical security systems such as Closed-circuit televisions(CCTV), access control systems, video surveillance systems, etc.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Incumbent who is not currently occupying a TDP position must successfully complete a pre-appointment drug test prior to being placed into this position and periodically thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete the Army Physical Security Officer course within two years of hire, depending on course availability and/or funding.
  • This position has a data analytics requirement. The incumbent must meet all requirements for data analytics level 1 certification within 12 months of being placed in the position.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure report, OGE-450 upon entering the position and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 17-Nov-2011.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle License.
  • Incumbent may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
  • Incumbent may be recalled to duty.
  • Incumbent may be required to work overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: (1) Evaluating physical security systems and procedures in an administrative, technical, manufacturing, or scientific organization or facility; (2) Coordinating the objectives and plans of two or more specialized programs, such as Random Antiterrorism Measures Program, Physical Security, etc; (3) Analyzing, and/or resolving difficult security problems; (4) Assists in the protection of automated data processing facilities, safe and vault areas, restricted and controlled-access locations, and security guard forces. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Criminal Justice or Security Management.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
