Overview
We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer Level 3 to support mission-critical systems in Annapolis Junction, MD. This role is ideal for a highly skilled database professional with deep expertise in Oracle database technologies, Linux environments, and secure, large-scale systems.
You will play a key role in database installation, maintenance, optimization, and high-availability configurations supporting complex government or enterprise programs.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, patch, and maintain Oracle Database environments
Manage and support Oracle Enterprise Manager for monitoring and administration
Implement and maintain Oracle Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery
Perform database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting
Execute backup, recovery, and data integrity processes
Develop and maintain Bash scripts to automate database and system tasks
Work within Linux-based environments, utilizing advanced command-line tools
Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and operational standards
Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, and developers to support database needs
Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a Database Engineer (DBE) supporting programs/contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university
OR five (5) additional years of Database Engineering experience in lieu of degree
Strong hands-on experience with:
Oracle Database installation, patching, and administration
Oracle Enterprise Manager
Oracle Data Guard
Linux OS, Linux commands, and system administration
Bash scripting and automation
Experience supporting complex, secure, or enterprise-level environments
Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
Experience supporting federal government or DoD programs
Familiarity with high-availability and disaster recovery architectures
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $161,000 – $179,000
Retirement: 15% employer 401(k) contribution (no match required)
