Job Description
This position is for a highly motivated National Security Analyst to support the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation (NA-80), Office of Nuclear Threat Science (NA-82) in Washington, D.C. This role will provide support to NA-82's Assessments Division and its efforts to strengthen nuclear material security and conduct risk assessments in collaboration with national laboratories, government stakeholders, and key partners. The successful candidate will deliver technical, strategic, and security expertise, as well as management and budgetary support, to Division personnel and federal leadership. Additionally, this individual will advise NA-82 on its broader Nuclear Threat Science R&D portfolio, helping to advance mission objectives.

SALARY: Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate's related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. The salary range for this position is $115,000-$140,000.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist the NA-82 Assessments Division technical lead for material attractiveness with oversight and management of this portfolio, including engagements with national laboratories and U.S. government stakeholders.
- Assist the NA-82 material attractiveness technical lead in coordination of risk assessment tasks and projects to the national labs and development of technical recommendations related to material security and nuclear energy topics.
- Serve as an NA-82 point of contact for DOE/NNSA, interagency, and international partners on civil nuclear fuel cycles, security, physical protection, and risk assessments, including by attending, supporting, and reporting on working groups, coordinating bodies, strategic reviews, and planning activities.
- Support NA-82 situational awareness and strategic planning on scientific, technical, legislative, and regulatory developments in civil nuclear energy.
- Coordinate and execute external stakeholder engagements on nuclear material security and civil nuclear energy missions; develop meeting scopes, briefings, and recommendations to NA-82 on partner collaborations.
- Foster relationships with interagency partners-including the Intelligence Community, DOE/NNSA offices, and NRC-as well as international counterparts to advance NA-82 objectives.
- Provide project management support to other NA-82 Assessments Division personnel overseeing nuclear materials and device assessment portfolios-action tracking, project updates, and laboratory task management.
- Assist with annual program reviews, quarterly laboratory reviews, end-of-year reviews, and other oversight and management efforts pertinent to the NA-82 Assessments Division.
- Support preparation and execution of technical exchanges and briefings on NA-82 Assessments Division and broader NA-82 projects and programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in public policy, national security, international affairs, or related policy fields, or technical fields such as chemistry, physics or electrical, mechanical or nuclear engineering.
- Active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance; ability to obtain SCI access
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two years of relevant experience in national security, nuclear security, and intelligence/international programs.
- Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal communications and briefing products.
- Ability to operate as part of a hardworking, dynamic team.
