Insight Global is seeking a TS/SCI Software Engineer II to support a federal client in Suffolk, VA. This software team is responsible for adapting and migrating simulation applications into the JWICS (TS) environment while keeping them fully interoperable with joint training federations. They modify and integrate tools to meet Top Secret requirements—handling data classification, secure messaging, HLA communication, and cross‑domain data exchange with SIPR. The focus is on ensuring the software runs securely, reliably, and seamlessly across TS development, test, and operational environments.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
· Develop, modify, and integrate software components supporting simulation federation capabilities within the TS enclave.
· Adapt existing tools (JSPA, JTT SIM, RTI-S, JTDS OBS, TGS) to meet TS environment requirements, including:
· Data tagging and classification handling
o Secure message protocol compliance
o Required display banners and user interface constraints
o Implement and maintain software interfaces supporting High Level Architecture (HLA) federation communication.
· Develop protocol bridging solutions to enable interoperability between heterogeneous simulation systems.
· Collaborate with systems engineers and infrastructure teams to ensure proper deployment and integration across development, staging, and production environments.
· Contribute to Cross Domain Solution (CDS) integration by developing or modifying services that enable secure data exchange between TS and SIPR environments.
· Participate in DevSecOps processes, including:
o CI/CD pipeline integration
o Automated testing and code quality validation
o Secure software release and deployment
· Work closely with cybersecurity teams to implement secure coding practices and ensure compliance with RMF and STIG requirements.
· Support test and evaluation activities by developing test cases, debugging issues, and resolving interoperability defects.
· Troubleshoot and resolve software defects across distributed simulation environments.
· Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design artifacts, interface definitions, and user guides.
Required Skills & Experience
· 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
· Exceptional communication skills, with proven ability to coordinate with senior government officials, military personnel, and other technical teams.
· Strong ability to navigate complex, high stakes environments while maintaining a focus on timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
· Ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions to complex operational training challenges.
· Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, or similar).
· Experience with distributed systems, APIs, and network-based applications.
· Familiarity with software development lifecycle practices and version control systems (GitLab).
· Understanding of DevSecOps concepts and CI/CD pipelines.
· Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices.
· Experience working in Linux and/or Windows development environments.
Compensation:
$45/hr to $50hr.
