Principal Database Engineer

Job Title: Principal Database Engineer
Work Location: Richardson, TX
Duration: 1 year contract w/ option to extend or hire
Pay: $87-96/hr w2
Education/Experience Required: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of Database Engineering experience.
Clearance: DOD TS/SCI

Job Description & Responsibilities:

• Identify and understand customer needs and apply sound, demonstrable understanding of database principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering to translate those needs to viable design solutions.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well.
• Successfully integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products as part of customer-driven solutions.
• Use proven problem solving and analytical skills.
• Obtain and maintain SCI program access and complete polygraphs.
• Obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of start.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of Database Engineering experience.
• Experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) and Database Engineer (DBE).
• Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) solutions, such as Oracle, Postgres, or related systems.
• Experience working with Systems and Software Engineers to implement, and modify backend databases to interact with applications within a development environment.
• Experience virtualizing or containerizing databases.
• Experience Ansible, Terraform, and AWS RDS
• Experience troubleshooting performance issues
• Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI prior to start date. U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience working with Systems and Software Engineers to implement, and modify backend databases to interact with applications within a development environment.
• Existing Security+ Certification
• Experience with NoSQL database products such as MongoDB
• Experience troubleshooting database issues such as DR, replication & backups and other related issues.
• Experience with database security controls and audit & compliance requirements.
• Experience with automating routine tasks.
• Experience with Spatial databases
• Coding experience (SQL, Python, Java) is helpful!
