Job Description:
The Cloud Engineer helps align the customers' strategies into cloud solutions such as Amazon Web Service (AWS) or Microsoft Azure that best meet their organizational needs. The Cloud Engineer implements, monitors, and maintains AWS / Microsoft Azure solutions, including major services related to compute, storage, network, and security. The Cloud Administrator - Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Specialist defines what is needed to be done to implement the cloud solutions, using written and verbal communication skills to scope, assemble, and propose solutions. The Cloud Administrator - Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Specialist also ensures that the operational activities required to manage and administrate the implemented solutions are documented and executed consistently by the Support Team to meet security and audit requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transition existing on-premises infrastructure to a cloud architecture
- Must be able to work as part of a traditional network team while working to transition requirements to cloud based SDN architecture
- Recommend best practice approach of transition to cloud technologies or hybrid approach
- Develop transition plan that keeps current stakeholders informed during the process
- Design, Implement, and Automate environment creation
- Document procedures, plans, testing, diagrams, maintenance, training, SLAs/OLAs
- Current Infrastructure could include, but not limited to, physical/virtual servers, workstations, storage, networks, encryption technologies, software, databases, and other unique program of record services
- Perform analysis of current infrastructure and business processes
- Work with current and identify future customers to ensure their mission needs will be met with minimal impact during transition
- Developing and maintaining bot on premise and cloud based network architectures, security, and maintaining network configurations
- Create and implement router, switch and VPC configurations
- Familiar with Load Balancer and Virtual Firewalls
- Troubleshooting network performance issues
- Providing user support and guidance
- Setting up IP schemas for multi-tenant environments
- Configuring physical and virtual switching, routing, and firewall protocols, ports, and services
- Developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans
- Manage network communications testing, installation, and support, including LAN/MAN/WAN system
- Create and implement router and switch configurations
- Provide recommendations to enhance and improve network performance
- Interface with vendors to address problem escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance
- Focus on integrating the services defined in the MCIEE Blueprint
- Migrate or re-engineer database design per requirements of analyst tools
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification
- Amazon Web Services Cloud certification
- Hands-on cloud architect/SME capable of entire lifecycle transition to cloud technology
- Knowledge of available cloud services to make informed decisions to guide Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Data as a Service (DaaS), and Self-Hosted, or hybrid approach
- Must be capable of scripting technologies and how to automate creation of cloud environment
- Familiar with implementing High Availability (HA) architecture, maximizing service uptime
- Must be familiar with environment auto scaling and load balancing
- Must be familiar with DoD Cyber processes to include STIGs
- Must be familiar with transition of multiple OS technologies to include Windows and Linux servers and workstations
- Must be familiar with backup and recovery/DR solutions and processes and recommend as required

Physical, Work Environment & Conditions:
- Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
- Occasional standing while working in server rooms or at patch panels.
- Must be able to lift and move moderately heavy equipment (e.g., routers, switches, servers) typically up to 30-50 pounds.
- Manual Dexterity required for connecting cables, configuring devices, and handling small tools or components.
- Must be able to view computer screens for long periods.
- Ability to distinguish color-coded cabling and indicator lights.
- Must be able to climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces for cable runs or equipment installation.
- May require walking between different buildings or workstations.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with technical teams and end-users.
- May need to hear alarms, server beeps, or equipment noises indicating issues
