Job Description

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Network & Computer Systems Administrator to support network infrastructure and systems administration services at Eglin AFB. The selected candidate will assist in maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting network and computer systems in a mission-critical DoD environment. This role requires a foundational understanding of networking principles, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, security-conscious setting.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, and other network infrastructure components.
Support administration of Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
Monitor network performance, identify anomalies, and escalate issues to senior administrators as appropriate.
Assist with user account management, access controls, and permissions within Active Directory.
Support system imaging, software deployments, patch management, and hardware lifecycle activities.
Ensure network and systems compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies and DISA STIG requirements.
Document network configurations, system changes, incidents, and resolutions in ticketing systems.
Assist with troubleshooting LAN/WAN connectivity, VPN, and wireless network issues.
Support backup and recovery operations for critical systems and data.
Coordinate with senior engineers and IT staff to support infrastructure projects and upgrades.

Required Qualifications

Active TS/SCI clearance (required).
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
1–2 years of professional experience in network administration, systems administration, or related IT role.
CompTIA Security+ certification (IAT Level II compliant) or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Foundational knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a DoD environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting DoD or Air Force network environments.
CompTIA Network+ or CCNA certification.
Familiarity with DISA STIGs and DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks.
Experience with network monitoring tools and SIEM platforms.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash).
Experience working in or supporting classified environments and SCIFs.
