Specialized Experience required: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience conducting traffic law enforcement patrols using specialized equipment such as radar or breathalyzer; enforcing traffic laws, codes and/or regulations involving persons and/or property; and, preparing traffic accident investigations and/or technical reports of investigative findings.

Additional information
- Conduct traffic collision response, investigation and reconstruction.
- Execute special event support, motorcade security and escort for visiting dignitaries.
- Advise supervisor on traffic management issues impacting readiness and traffic movement of the installation.
- Implement traffic plans and programs and assist in survey development of traffic patterns on the installation.
- Develop and follow investigative leads, takes statements, and gather information and facts pertinent to open investigations or reconstructions.
- Testify as a subject matter expert in court on investigations requiring expert testimony in traffic collision reconstruction.
- Collect and preserve evidence, conduct short-term and long-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develops case information.
- Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal.
Conditions of employment
- This position requires the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment medical and psychiatric evaluation and an annual evaluation thereafter.
- Must have successfully graduated from a DOD, Federal, National or State approved Traffic Management and Collision Investigation (TMCI) course or complete within one year of hire date.
- Position requires successful graduation from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless you have a current approved waiver/exemption or are grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 to include the requirement to wear a uniform and/or maintain a high state of uniform appearance and personal hygiene.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Incumbent must pass, within 90 days of being hired and annually thereafter, a physical agility test.
- This position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) and has been designated by the Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees may be required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related Law Enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- Position is subject to the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- The work requires extended periods of physical exertion derived from such activities as running, walking, and occasionally lifting, pushing and/or carrying items weighing 50 pounds or more.
- The incumbent may be required to push or drag heavy weights of 150 pounds or more and defend oneself or others against physical attack.
- The work involves moderate and high risks and possible endangerment of life or serious injury that requires the exercise of safety precautions and use of personal protective equipment.
