Are you analytical, curious, and eager to learn how federal contracting decisions are shaped? Akima's Competitive & Market Intelligence (CMI) team is seeking a motivated intern to support strategic research, competitor analysis, and business development activities across all operating groups. This hands-on experience provides a unique opportunity to see how data, research, and strategy intersect to support major opportunity pursuits and corporate growth.
As a CMI intern, you'll contribute to real-world strategic initiatives and opportunity pursuits while learning the fundamentals of competitor monitoring, market assessments, and pricing strategy-plus gain exposure through a rotation with our Price-to-Win (PTW) team.
NOTE: To be considered for this position, you must be a NANA Shareholder and own stock in "NANA Regional Corporation, Inc." You must currently be enrolled in college or technical/vocational school.

Responsibilities
Support Strategic Intelligence & Competitor Analysis
- Develop strategic profiles of Akima's key competitors, including capabilities, portfolios, customer footprints, and market positioning.
- Assist in integrating AI tools into competitor monitoring workflows, including summarization, trend detection, and analysis.
- Track competitor activity across federal procurement sources and synthesize findings for business development and capture teams.
Enable Market Assessments & Research
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative secondary research using government databases, industry reports, and internal tools.
- Contribute to market landscape analyses for the various sectors Akima supports, such as IT services, facilities, logistics, and professional services.
- Prepare research summaries and briefing materials used by leadership and capture teams.
Collaborate Across Operating Groups
- Engage with business development teams across all Akima operating groups to understand opportunity pipelines and support strategic positioning.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings, supporting communication and coordination on matters related to competitor insights and market intel.
Rotation with Price-to-Win (PTW)
- Gain exposure to competitive pricing strategy by rotating with the PTW team.
- Learn how price analysis, cost modeling, and competitive assessments inform winning proposals.

Qualifications
- Must be a NANA Shareholder and own stock in "NANA Regional Corporation, Inc."
- Must be currently enrolled in college or technical/vocational school.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Strong interest in research-both qualitative and quantitative.
- Ability to organize information, work independently, and collaborate in team settings.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience using or interest in applying AI tools for research, analysis, or automation.
- Ability to analyze and visualize data using Power BI or similar tools.
- Familiarity with federal contracting, business strategy, or competitive intelligence concepts (not required, but a plus).
Skills:
- Understanding or willingness to learn of federal, state and local procurement processes.
- Ability to effectively work with a diverse team of peers and management personnel.
- Effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Proactive attitude.
- Proficiency in general computer skills (Windows and Microsoft Office).
- Willingness to learn and accept guidance from others.
