The Opportunity:

The CACI Automated Remediation and Asset Discovery (ARAD) team is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Patch Management Specialist to lead our team in implementing and maintaining a robust patch management procedure for the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Enterprise IT as a Service (EITaaS) program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise systems administration, team leadership, and extensive experience with enterprise operating systems and Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) patch management tools (e.g., WSUS, MECM, Tanium, etc) as well as experience working with government IT security requirements.

The preferred work location for this role is 2-3 days onsite in Chantilly, VA with remaining days remote.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement strategic goals that align with the program and mission
  • Significantly improves existing processes and practices
  • Demonstrates technical innovation in supporting business objectives and mission.
  • Manage large projects with minimal oversight that require critical thinking and complex analysis
  • Typically has responsibility for communicating with other personnel across the program
  • Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower-level technical team members; responsible for providing guidance and training to other employees within technical discipline
  • Influences others regarding policies, practices, and procedures
  • Responsible for developing technical solutions that may require collaboration with internal expertise and deep analysis of the technical system.
  • Execute targeted vulnerability remediation and patch management strategy actions across enterprise systems in a large-scale DoD environment, including patch deployment, configuration changes, and software remediation.
  • Analyze and remediate vulnerabilities identified through tools such as ACAS, Tenable, Tanium, or MECM, ensuring closure within CAT I / II / III timelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve failed or incomplete patch deployments, including systems that fall outside standard patch cycles.
  • Coordinate remediation activities with Cybersecurity, ACAS, EDM, MMS, and Infrastructure teams to ensure accurate targeting, prioritization, and execution.
  • Prepare and submit change requests (standard and emergency) in alignment with CAB processes, ensuring remediation timelines are met without impacting mission operations.
  • Leverage enterprise tools such as Tanium, MECM, Intune, Axonius, or other COTS platforms to deploy remediation actions, query system state, and validate compliance.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of remediation tasks within enterprise ticketing systems and ensure proper documentation of actions taken.
  • Provide technical input into remediation reporting, including closure rates, SLA adherence, and recurring issues.
  • Monitor and report on patch compliance status, providing regular updates to senior management and government stakeholders.
  • Manage the patch deployment schedule and ensure minimal disruption to government operations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for patch management procedures, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.


Qualifications:

Required:
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance
  • 15+ Years of relevant experience (Bachelor's Degree in applicable field may be substituted for 5 years of experience).
  • Experience in enterprise systems administration and patch management.
  • Experience leading IT teams in a professional environment.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise operating systems and COTS patch management tools (e.g., WSUS, MECM, Tanium, etc).
  • Familiarity with federal government IT security requirements (e.g., FISMA, NIST guidelines).
  • Experience working with large-scale, complex IT environments.
  • Knowledge of automation tools for patch management.
  • Familiarity with change management processes in enterprise environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities


Desired:
  • Experience with ServiceNow
  • RHCA, TCO, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Configuration Manager and Intune Administrator Expert certification.
  • Experience working with federal government agencies
  • Knowledge of additional automation tools for patch management.
  • Experience in integrating enterprise operating systems and COTS patch management tools (e.g., WSUS, MECM, Tanium, etc) and other technologies such as Azure AD and Intune for comprehensive endpoint management.
