Job Description

Duties

  • Perform and maintain building electrical systems on an installation.
  • Lay out the needed arrangement of items such as systems, circuits, controls and equipment
  • Service distribution control panels to ensure systems operate properly.
  • Review blueprints to determine the safe operation of circuits.
  • Utilize hand held tools such as wire cutters, drills, test lamps, and various types of meters to complete tasks.
  • Apply electrical principles to trouble-shoot equipment.

  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires you to be on-call and subject to callback.
Qualifications

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): I have the ability to do the work of a Journeyman Level Electrician, WG-10 without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the full range of Electrician duties. I am skilled in disassembly and assembly work, removing various types of electrical equipment, fitting and installing wire molds and conduits. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • Physical Effort: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding and platforms, and where parts of the systems being worked on are in hard-to-reach places. Job requires standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts or carries tools, parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds; occasionally may lift and carry items weighing over 40 pounds. Personal assistance or lifting devices may be used.
  • Working Conditions: Work is done inside and outside, and is usually dusty, dirty, and greasy. Sometimes required to work outside in inclement weather or in work areas that are noisy. Is occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shock and burns. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises.
