Position Overview
The Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) serves as the Wing Information Assurance Officer (IAO) for Advanced Programs, responsible for cybersecurity and information assurance of Automated Information Systems (AIS) and classified LAN/WAN environments supporting Special Access Programs (SAP). The ISSM ensures the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of systems through the implementation of DoD, USAF, MAJCOM, and Intelligence Community (IC) security directives, while providing technical leadership, risk management, and compliance oversight.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
Cybersecurity & Information Assurance Leadership
- Serve as the 25 ATKW Information Assurance Officer (IAO) for Advanced Programs, overseeing lifecycle security of AIS and classified networks.
- Plan, design, implement, integrate, and maintain secure AIS and LAN/WAN systems supporting SAP environments.
- Interpret and apply DoD, USAF, DCID, JAFAN, MAJCOM, and IC security policies to protect classified systems and data.
- Advise leadership and stakeholders on cybersecurity posture, risks, and mitigation strategies.
System Accreditation & Compliance
- Certify AIS in accordance with applicable directives and coordinate approvals with USAF and MAJCOM authorities.
- Conduct system evaluations, risk assessments, and compliance reviews; implement corrective actions.
- Perform self-inspections, document findings, and track resolution of identified vulnerabilities.
- Recommend and justify temporary waivers or deviations from standard security requirements when appropriate.
Network Security & Access Control
- Manage the Network Security Program, ensuring secure transmission of information across LAN/WAN environments.
- Implement and enforce access controls, user account management, password policies, and privilege restrictions.
- Configure and maintain firewalls and security controls to prevent unauthorized access, data compromise, or malware intrusion.
- Monitor, detect, and report cybersecurity incidents, including unauthorized access, viruses, or system tampering.
Data Protection & Technical Security
- Implement multi-level security solutions to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, authentication, and non-repudiation.
- Develop and apply countermeasures to prevent electronic eavesdropping, interception, and unauthorized data access.
- Evaluate vulnerabilities and oversee implementation of physical and technical safeguards.
- Advise on proper handling, storage, and destruction of AIS media.
User Support, Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver Information Assurance Awareness and training programs for initial and recurring requirements.
- Provide guidance to unit-level IAOs and users on security procedures, system use, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct user briefings, onboarding sessions, and ongoing education to ensure secure system usage.
- Provide hands-on technical support for system configuration, software installation, and troubleshooting.
Systems Administration & Operations Support
- Administer user accounts, manage system access, and maintain secure configurations across platforms.
- Support system integration, configuration management, and troubleshooting across multiple operating systems and environments.
- Maintain system performance and ensure continuity of operations with minimal service interruptions.
- Develop and maintain trouble resolution tracking and knowledge databases.
Program Management & Lifecycle Support
- Track lifecycle of IT systems, analyze maintenance and replacement needs, and support budget planning.
- Advise on system design, database management, backup/recovery procedures, and processing efficiencies.
- Support automation and optimization of IT processes to improve operational effectiveness.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align IT security with mission requirements.
Security Integration & Compliance Across Domains
- Apply knowledge of collateral, SAP, and SCI security requirements across information, personnel, physical, and industrial security disciplines.
- Ensure security considerations are integrated into new systems, missions, and organizational initiatives.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and documentation for leadership and higher headquarters.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of IT/cybersecurity experience .
- CompTIA Security+ certification required ; CISSP required within 6 months of hire.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with eligibility for SAP, SAP Network, and NATO ACCM access .
- Strong knowledge of AIS security, network security, and DoD/USAF cybersecurity frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting SAP/SCI environments and classified networks.
- Knowledge of multi-level security systems and advanced cybersecurity architectures .
- Experience with risk management frameworks, system accreditation, and compliance programs .
- Familiarity with cross-domain solutions, TEMPEST considerations, or advanced network defense tools .
