Duties

  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of ACC CSS Mission Assurance Flight.
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Represents ACC CSS Commander with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
  • Responsible for operations and management of the ACC MAJCOM Cyberspace Control Center.

  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

  • The position may require work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays; overtime and emergency overtime, or shift work.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to complete a supervisory probation
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A).

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience with activities, functions, or services accomplished directly and significantly impact C4 support and services; network, communication, the completion of various network, software, and/or telecommunications projects with command-wide impact; and the squadron's manpower, organizational structure, and staffing requirements.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of C4 planning, programming, program management, budgeting, systems integration and life cycle management techniques and procedures. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Knowledge of the capabilities of computer systems and be able to adapt with constant changing programs and evolving dynamic C4 technology. Knowledge of DoD computer systems development and acquisition rules and processes.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and apprise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. Ability to motivate, train, and work effectively with subordinates and to understand and further management goals.
  • Ability to use sound management and practices and personal initiative, judgment, tact, diplomacy, resourcefulness, and ingenuity. Ability to deal effectively with executives in high level management and technical positions and maintain working relationships with executives at all levels of government, commercial and professional organizations. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to prepare high-level correspondence, present briefings to senior base officials and high level visitors.
  • Knowledge of the importance of acquiring, maintaining, and advancing knowledge of modern computer systems, processes, and advanced technologies through proactive participation in conferences, seminars, training, and formal education. High degree of analytical ability to research, develop and design new methodologies and procedures as needed to support mission requirements. Knowledge of AF and DoD. Planning Programming & Budgeting cycles to include POM, BER, and FINPLANs. Extensive knowledge of manpower policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the functions of the organizations mission program requirements and the ability to apply them in a tailored manner to MAJCOM, DISA, Air Force, and DoD communications & information management system activities.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
