Duties

As a HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST, GS-0671-9, you will:
  • Review, evaluate, and interpret regulatory guidance, policies and procedures
  • Responsible for oversight, administration, and implement of policies pertaining to state medical affairs
  • Provide guidance to all users through development of policies, procedures and standard operation procedures (SOP)
  • Collect, analyze and provide statistical reports
  • Serve as a Patient Administration Department PAD Specialist
  • Under the supervision of the PAD NCO, assist and manage PAD operations and services
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Office of the State Surgeon

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS :

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • National Guard Membership is required
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation

Areas I: All current, permanent technicians within the New Jersey Army National Guard STATE SURGEON

Military Grades: E-4 to E-5

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE :
Must have have at least 12 months on-the-job experience and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE :
Must have at least 12 months experience and knowledge in the following:
  • Basic principles and practices related to the management of health care delivery systems
  • General clerical procedures; medical terminology; regulations, and directives; medical ethics; health records administration; principles of coding; and anatomy or physiology programs
  • Health facilities, health plan management, medical resources, health care information management and information technology, medical logistics, or medical readiness (including aeromedical evacuation)
  • Analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems
  • Developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs
  • Administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical unit or medical activity.
