As a key member of the Network Monitoring team, you will be responsible for maintaining the Air Force's network infrastructure by proactively monitoring and troubleshooting issues utilizing industry-leading tools such as SolarWinds, System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and Netcool in a Microsoft Windows environment. As an administrator, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows servers, as well as ensuring the security and integrity of these systems. This will include tasks such as patching, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and troubleshooting server-related issues.

A successful Monitoring Management - Mid level candidate will have:

  • Understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and technologies


  • Proficient in use of Microsoft 365 suite products including Outlook and Teams


  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams


  • Familiarity with Microsoft/Windows operating systems and environments


  • Experience with managing SolarWinds or other network monitoring tools.


  • Experience troubleshooting connectivity issues.


  • Experience with configuring SMNP.


  • Experience applying DISA STIG configurations and ensure compliance with DoD security settings.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and technologies


  • Proficiency in SolarWinds and other advanced network monitoring tools


  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with ability to analyze complex network issues


  • Understanding of SNMP principles for monitoring and management, including agent-based data collection and trap notifications


  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams


  • Familiarity with Microsoft/Windows operating systems and environments


Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced network monitoring tools to detect and respond to network incidents, creating and managing Remedy incident tickets as necessary to escalate issues to internal teams for resolution.


  • Develop and execute established procedures for rapid identification and resolution of network incidents, minimizing downtime and impact on enterprise operations.


  • Provide real-time network status updates to Network Operations Controllers and track incidents to resolution, ensuring transparency and accountability.


  • Perform routine hardware and software checks, as well as scheduled maintenance and system upgrades/patching to ensure optimal network performance.


  • Conduct thorough analysis to discern genuine issues from false alarms, thoroughly investigating potential false positives to ensure accurate identification and resolution of network problems.


  • Manage and update Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) according to DoD requirements, ensuring compliance with security standards.


  • Conduct regular trend analysis to identify abnormal performance patterns, triggering further investigation and remediation efforts.


  • Manage databases and create custom widgets and dashboards using SWQL (SolarWinds Query Language) to provide real-time insights into network performance.


  • Ensuring standard operating procedures (SOP) and other operational procedures are maintained.


Education & Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent (4 years of specialized experience)


Certifications

Required

  • IAT II Certifications are Required at Start ( CySA +, Security+, CCNA, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP or higher)


  • Microsoft AZ-900 is required within 180 days of start


Desired

  • Microsoft Certified Azure Associate (AZ-104)


Security Clearance

  • Secret or TOP Secret


Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.)

  • The primary shift for this position is Monday - Friday between the operating hours of 0600 to 1700.


  • If a temporary schedule change is required to support operations, you will be provided with as much notice as the situation allows.


  • Certification requirements are subject to change based on government's direction. If this occurs you will have 120 days to become compliant.
