Job Summary
Paramedics provide advanced medical support to high-risk Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training programs conducted at Fairchild AFB. Medical personnel support training events involving physically and psychologically demanding activities conducted in classroom, laboratories, aquatic, and austere field environments.
The Paramedic is responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency care, monitoring student and instructor safety during training events, and supporting operational risk management requirements in accordance with established medical protocols and training directives. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to operate independently in remote environments, and the capacity to respond rapidly to medical emergencies. Medical support personnel play a critical role in enabling safe execution of realistic SERE training while maintaining compliance with safety standards, medical readiness requirements, and program risk mitigation procedures.
Responsibilities
• Provide advanced life support (ALS) medical coverage during SERE training activities, including classroom, laboratory, aquatic, and field events
• Conduct medical screening, monitoring, and emergency response for students and instructors during high-risk training evolutions
• Respond to and manage medical emergencies, including trauma, environmental exposure injuries, dive medical emergencies, and other field-related conditions
• Coordinate with training cadre and safety personnel to support operational risk management and medical contingency planning
• Provide stabilization and coordinate evacuation of injured personnel to appropriate medical facilities when required
• Maintain medical equipment, supplies, and readiness of emergency response kits and field medical equipment
• Complete annual Skill Level 4 testing on the current United States Departments of the Army and Air Force Joint Prehospital Emergency Care Protocols which will be conducted by the SERE Medical Flight.
• Document medical incidents and maintain required medical records in accordance with applicable protocols and reporting requirements
• Operate in austere environments and variable weather conditions; field coverage may involve extended outdoor operations in remote or mountainous terrain
• Support concurrent or consecutive course iterations in high-tempo environments; training schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and multi-day field events
• Maintain required certifications, licensure, and continuing education necessary to perform paramedic duties.
Required Qualifications
• Active SECRET clearance
• Current National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification
• Minimum of 2 years of experience providing paramedic-level emergency medical care in Prehospital Trauma Life Support, Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, and qualified to identify dive medical emergencies
• Applicant must have never had paramedic certification suspended or revoked
• Ability to operate independently and make sound medical decisions in remote or austere environments
• Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely support field training operations, including extended outdoor coverage in variable terrain and weather conditions
• Ability to perform care in accordance with the current United States Departments of the Army and Air Force Joint Prehospital Emergency Care Protocols
• Ability to support extended duty days and non-standard work schedules as required by training cycles.

Desired Qualifications
• Experience supporting military training, field operations, or austere environment medical coverage
• Experience providing medical support during high-risk training environments or physically demanding operational events
• Experience in wilderness, expeditionary, or tactical emergency medical support
• Current certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
• Wilderness medicine or austere medicine training (e.g., Wilderness EMT, Wilderness Paramedic, NOLS Wilderness Medicine certifications)
• Experience working with military personnel or supporting Department of Defense training environments.
