Position Overview
• We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support mission-critical systems within a secure, classified environment.
• This role is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring compliance with DoD security standards, and supporting system availability and performance.
• The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in Linux system administration, security hardening, automation, and virtualization, along with the ability to operate effectively in a high-security, air-gapped environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer, maintain, and secure Linux/Unix-based systems (primarily RHEL 6–9)
• Install, configure, and update operating systems, including security patches and firmware
• Perform system hardening in compliance with STIG, RMF, and NISPOM requirements
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve hardware/software incidents
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication services (NIS, SSSD)
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell and Ansible
• Support and manage virtual environments using VMware ESXi
• Perform vulnerability remediation using tools such as Nessus, Trellix, Splunk, SCAP, and HBSS
• Coordinate hardware repairs and system upgrades
• Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
• Administer storage solutions including NAS/SAN systems
• Operate effectively in disconnected/air-gapped environments
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Instructions (SOIs) and technical documentation
Basic Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph (required)
• CompTIA Security+ (or DoD 8572-compliant certification), or ability to obtain within 60 days
• Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix system administration
• Experience applying system patches, updates, and security configurations
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6–9)
• VMware ESXi and virtualization management experience
• Automation experience using Shell scripting and Ansible
• Experience with system deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management
• Knowledge of cybersecurity tools and frameworks (Nessus, Splunk, HBSS, etc.)
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Familiarity with DoD security frameworks (RMF, STIG, NISPOM)
• Experience managing Linux systems with NAS/SAN storage
• Knowledge of mixed authentication environments (NIS, SSSD)
• Exposure to Solaris, AIX, POWER, or SPARC systems
