Waypoint's client is seeking a Software Engineer 3 (SWE3) to join an Agile software development team delivering enhancements to a metrics and monitoring system, including a centralized health and status dashboard.
The SWE3 will work closely with Systems Engineers and Software Developers to implement scalable monitoring capabilities that aggregate status from multiple data sources and trigger alerts based on events, metrics, and reporting outputs. This role contributes directly to the development of operational monitoring capabilities that support mission systems across secure environments.

Description:
Waypoint's client is seeking a Software Engineer 3 (SWE3) to join an Agile software development team delivering enhancements to a metrics and monitoring system, including a centralized health and status dashboard.
The SWE3 will work closely with Systems Engineers and Software Developers to implement scalable monitoring capabilities that aggregate status from multiple data sources and trigger alerts based on events, metrics, and reporting outputs. This role contributes directly to the development of operational monitoring capabilities that support mission systems across secure environments.
Responsibilities:
- Support, integrate, scale, document, and secure all aspects of the virtual compute and containerized application stack.
- Develop a lightweight version of the application capable of operating on limited-resource servers.
Produce a version of the application suitable for sharing with U.S. partners. - Collaborate with developers to ensure optimal system integration and adherence to development standards.
- Ensure DevOps policies and practices are incorporated throughout the technology stack.
- Conduct performance assessments to ensure platforms meet required operational specifications.
- Develop data transport interfaces and message schemas as required, including RESTful APIs.
- Containerize mission applications as identified by mission leadership.
- Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
- Design and code new software or modify existing software to support rapid experimentation and evaluation of potential solutions.
- Recommend new technologies and development processes for complex software initiatives.
- Integrate existing software into new or modified system environments.
- Develop data queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories.
- Write and review software and system documentation.
- Assist with developing and executing software test procedures.
- Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
- Design and implement complex algorithms that adhere to system timing, resource, and interface constraints.
- Collaborate with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and ensure system compatibility.
- Support the selection and application of appropriate software development methodologies in coordination with system engineering teams.
Required:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with MPO client-level Full Scope Polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Four additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 20 years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Proficiency with React.
- Experience with Golang.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry.
- Experience with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Git version control.
Desired:
- Experience with Grafana for metrics visualization and monitoring.
- Additional experience working with OpenTelemetry for telemetry instrumentation and monitoring pipelines.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and Bash scripting.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Experience developing monitoring, metrics, and observability platforms.
- Ability to lead development efforts or serve as a technical lead within collaborative engineering teams.
- Experience supporting systems that operate across classified and multi-environment infrastructures.
