Waypoint's client is seeking a Production Engineer to provide Production Engineering subject matter expertise in support of the Program Executive Office (PEO) Missile and Space (M&S) Integrated Fires & Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office - Performance Management Directorate.
This role supports an Army Air and Missile Defense program currently in the production phase, providing senior-level leadership, technical expertise, and production engineering guidance to ensure systems and components meet program requirements and standards. The Production Engineer will play a key role in the strategic integration of production requirements across multiple hardware and software configurations while helping incorporate production improvements into agile hardware development efforts.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting defense production programs, including production line validation events, design reviews, and configuration audits, and will collaborate closely with government stakeholders, prime contractors, and cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate production program management efforts and requirements, ensuring planning and documentation support established production schedules.
- Identify and address trends in production and performance parameters to mitigate potential risks.
- Conduct data analysis and communicate program results through technical reports, briefings, memoranda, and white papers.
- Participate in key program engagements with prime contractors including Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs), and Failure Review Boards (FRBs).
- Develop and implement production strategies and plans utilizing systems engineering principles to ensure components and software meet performance requirements.
- Develop strategic production metrics to support oversight and monitoring of hardware production and integration activities.
- Perform trend analysis across laboratory, assembly, contractor, and production facilities and provide reporting to leadership.
- Develop white papers outlining recommendations for addressing production or integration gaps to support government prioritization efforts.
- Support Production and Pilot Line Validation activities by providing independent assessments and recommendations.
- Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), waivers, and deviations to assess impacts on product integrity and manufacturability.
- Review Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) for production deliverables and provide technical assessments supporting government acceptance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to other production engineers regarding program milestones, production engineering practices, contract requirements, and production management.
- Assist in the development of Statements of Work (SOWs) for assigned products.
- Support technical proposal evaluations using established government evaluation strategies and methodologies.
Required:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Active Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain clearance eligibility.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Engineering discipline.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience supporting production engineering, manufacturing, or defense systems production programs.
- Solid understanding of DoD 5000 acquisition processes and program lifecycle management.
- Experience supporting defense production environments, including production line validation events, design reviews, and configuration audits.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Understanding of systems engineering methodologies and practices. - Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and support varied program requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
