Senior System Engineer - TS/SCI Required - San Antonio, TX onsite

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with a deep understanding of large system architecture to support mission-critical operations. This position requires a technical expert with a proven background in operating system (OS), Cisco devices (Router, Firewall, Switch), Commercial Automation Software (CAS), and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) product lifecycles. The ideal candidate will be experienced in secure communications, large-scale infrastructure planning, and Department of Defense (DoD) environments and Air Force weapon systems.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise infrastructure including servers, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), storage systems, and supporting network services. Experienced in managing physical and virtual environments, server hardware, and operating systems including Windows Server and Linux.
• Provide infrastructure support including virtualization management, system performance monitoring, patching, firmware updates, and lifecycle management. Monitor system resource utilization, perform capacity planning, and maintain system availability and reliability.
• Working knowledge of networking technologies including VLANs, IP addressing, VPNs, Cisco switches, routers, and wireless infrastructure. Familiar with core networking concepts including TCP/IP, routing fundamentals, and network segmentation.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across hardware, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and supporting network components. Analyze system logs, monitoring data, and diagnostics to identify and resolve issues.
• Assist with infrastructure design, deployment, and system upgrades while following established configuration and change management processes. Collaborate with vendors and internal IT teams to resolve issues and improve system performance.
• Maintain documentation, update knowledge bases, and stay current with emerging infrastructure, virtualization, and networking technologies.
• Sharp troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently
• Deep understanding of Networking protocols ( IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF)
• Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP Model
• Hands-on experience with Monitoring network diagnostic and network analytics tools
• Excellent Written and Verbal Communication
• Stay up to date with the latest networking technologies and best practices

• Monitoring all active to ensure seamless operations, system availability, and reliability
• Design, build, test, and troubleshoot a cyber weapon system solution
• Troubleshooting and resolving network issues, review security measures, and proactively optimizing enclave performance
• Performing maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches hot fixes, and security configurations
• Configure and Install various devices and services
• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
• Engineer Level support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.( This includes diagnosing HW/SW problems, analyzing network logs, and implementing solutions and resolve network and system issues)
• Work within established configuration and change Management policies
• Assist in design and implementation
• Troubleshoot issues with system deployment
• Identify potential failures and recommend solutions
• Liaise with Vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
• Update knowledge base with known errors

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in luau of degree
• Active TS clearance
• In-depth understanding of:
  • Operating Systems (e.g., Linux, Windows Server)
  • CAS tools and integration
  • COTS product evaluation, implementation, and lifecycle management
  • ServiceNow a plus
• DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification, such as:
  • Security+ CE

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in high-pressure environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies, cloud platforms, and software-defined networking (SDN).
• Experience working with government agencies or in classified environments.
