Position Overview:
STi is seeking a Research Engineer/Analyst – Country & Partner Assessments to serve as the main production analyst for recurring monthly and biannual assessment products focused on partner force development, country-level trends, operational progress, knowledge management, information sharing, and cultural/contextual analysis. This role is essential to sustaining the monthly production tempo of Partner Force Assessment Reports and Country Assessment Reports, while also contributing to Software and Data Analysis, Knowledge Management and Information Sharing, and Cultural Studies deliverables. The successful candidate must be able to absorb field inputs, Government checklists, virtual and in-person stakeholder feedback, and systems-of-record data, then turn those inputs into clear, accurate, well-structured reports that support planning, resource allocation, and partner-nation engagement decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Produce and update r-force and country assessment products, including
identification of trends, deficiencies, opportunities, and recommended actions.
• Collect, normalize, and analyze data received from SOF staff officers, partner-nation touchpoints, Government checklists, and virtual coordination channels.
• Support environmental analysis, cultural studies, software/data analysis, and knowledge management/information sharing deliverables.
• Conduct country- and region-specific analysis that accounts for political, economic, social, military, and cultural dynamics affecting SOCAFRICA plans and mission execution.
• Draft concise findings and executive-ready narratives that capture progress against SOCAFRICA strategic responsibilities and lines of activity.
• Maintain document quality, source traceability, version control, and comment incorporation across recurring monthly report cycles.
• Support peer review, editing, and analytic coordination across the broader team, especially where country-level findings must be incorporated into environmental analyses, annual rollups, campaign inputs, or executive briefings.
• Assist with data calls, stakeholder mapping, and cross-directorate coordination necessary to keep assessment products current and usable.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in international relations, African studies, political science, anthropology, sociology, intelligence studies, public policy, data analytics, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in research, partner-force analysis, regional analysis, country studies, security cooperation assessment, or comparable defense analytic support.
• Demonstrated experience writing clear, structured products for Government or defense audiences on recurring deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to combine qualitative reporting with structured data inputs
and to identify trends, deficiencies, and practical recommendations.
• Familiarity with country-level and partner-level analysis in complex security environments.
• Strong editing and coordination skills, including ability to work through Government comments and maintain version-controlled deliverables.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to work on-site in classified environments.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior support to AFRICOM, SOF, security cooperation, partner force development, irregular warfare, or theater campaign assessment.
• Familiarity with TRESTLE, G-TSCMIS, JCRM, DRRS, or JLLIS and with working from Government-provided checklists and systems extracts.
• Experience producing knowledge management, information sharing, cultural, or atmospherics-focused products for military headquarters.
• Functional French or other relevant regional language capability is helpful but not required.
