Position: Systems Administrator SME (Systems Administrator – SME (NCR))
Location: Pentagon (Onsite) (Early Shift 6-2:30 PM)
Clearance: TS/SCI
Education: MA/MS (or a BA/BS plus an additional 4 years of work-related experience)
Responsibilities:
The IT Systems Administrator SME provides IT Systems Administration in support of the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Competition front office (SAF/OC), SAF/OCS, and SAF OCX. He or she supports systems, workstations, and associated software along with stand-alone systems, laptops, and various peripheral devices with analysis, updates for expanding and /or upgrading capabilities and equipment in the unclassified and classified system environments. Per PWS section 1.3.4.2 IT Systems Administration, specific tasks include but are not limited to:
• Provide expert support in classified, unclassified, and cloud-based networks and related systems, workstations, and associated software along with stand-alone systems, laptops, and various peripheral devices with analysis, design, and engineering support for expanding and/or upgrading capabilities/equipment.
• Provide assistance in account management services.
• Provide support for IT software .
• Install/test/maintain software upgrades/modifications.
• Install/test/maintain new software procedures by IT systems.
• Conduct tests of all new releases and modifications and complete/update all
documentation affected by required changes.
• Ensure upgrades/modifications of IT software are stable and backup is maintained.
• Perform computer/network hardware troubleshooting; and, when appropriate and
economically feasible, perform computer/network hardware repairs.
• Provide expert level technical support for IT systems:
• Control and manage IT connections in accordance with Information System
Security Officer (ISSO) and other Government guidelines.
• Coordinate the resolution of problems. Provide official communication to
users prior to upgrades/modifications to IT systems/software to ensure no
impact to the CDM mission.
• Control, manage, and troubleshoot IT systems and conduct logical operating
system fault monitoring.
• Backup/restore IT systems and perform reconfiguration and diagnostics/remedial action and ensure end-to-end physical connectivity.
• Provide management of current physical configurations of IT systems.
• Maintain IT systems operations.
• Monitor applications/system software and hardware operations.
• Conduct routine high-priority systems problem identification and high-priority corrective
actions.
• Provide telecommunications support required to provide interface between internal and
external IT systems.
• Interface with the Non-classified Internet Protocol (IP) Router Network (NIPRNET), Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET), Joint Worldwide Intelligence
Communications System (JWICS), Common Operating Environment (COE), Defense
Messaging System, and other networks, as required.
• Assist the Government IT Office by providing engineering, technical, and management
consultant support for CDM requirements. Recommend to CDM Government Information Technology (IT) office on improvements to infrastructure such as bandwidth at each facility location to improve performance. Maintain and administer the Local Area Networks (LANs) and cloud-based networks and software applications on a continual basis at CDM sites/locations.
• Provide expertise in support of Information System Owner (ISO), Information System
Security Manager (ISSM) and ISSO roles for classified, unclassified, and cloud-based
networks and related systems, workstations, and associated software applications.
• Execute the CDM Configuration Management (CM) program.
• Identify and document the functional and physical characteristics of CDM IT
systems and changes. (RR #34)
• Evaluate/identify CM programs/items.
• Identify and maintain IT Systems inventory at all CDM sites and
classification levels.
• Maintain status accounting records and reports.
• Participate in system configuration development and maintenance review.
• Develop, document and maintain operational procedures for all IT related
processes. Provide assistance in audit collection and updating technical documentation packages.
Qualifications:
The candidate must have the following qualifications:
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience.
• Of those 15 years, at least ten (10) years of work-related experience supporting a component of the DoW
• Security+ or DAWIA equivalent certification.
• Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II Certification in accordance with DoD 87570.01-M.
• Excellent customer service.
The following qualifications are desired:
• Experience support Air Force and/or Intel Community support.
• Experience in IT systems integration.
• Experience as a Systems Engineer.
• Experience in Database integration techniques.
• Experience in Data visualization.
• Enterprise architecture development.
Travel: Local travel expected in the National Capital Region (NCR).
