Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to support a federal client in Suffolk, VA. This person will be leading an optimization team that is focused on bug/maintenance tickets plus architectural updates and tech‑debt reduction. The lead will guide day‑to‑day execution across React UI and Java Spring Boot services, ensuring consistent improvements to performance, maintainability, stability, and delivery reliability. The work is continuous and ticket‑driven—mostly modernizing and improving existing functionality, with occasional need for new components/services to support larger refactors. This person's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Lead the identification, documentation, prioritization, and execution of technical debt reduction
-Drive refactoring and architectural improvements to improve readability, modularity, and maintainability
-Reduce code duplication and improve overall system structure
-Improve and stabilize automated test coverage (unit, integration, regression)
-Upgrade outdated libraries, frameworks, and dependencies
-Address security vulnerabilities and deprecated components
-Improve CI/CD pipeline stability and reliability
-Enhance logging, monitoring, and error handling
-Establish and maintain coding standards, documentation, and onboarding (“cold start”) materials
-Coordinate with feature teams to plan and execute debt‑reduction work without blocking delivery
-Provide hands‑on development support, including writing, testing, and documenting code changes
-Support multidisciplinary collaboration with engineers and technical stakeholders
Compensation: $50/hr to $53/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
