Position Overview

The Lead Vulnerability Assessment Analyst (LVAA) is responsible for ensuring the operational security posture of the Rapid Resilient Command and Control (R2C2) Satellite Operations Ground System and its deployed environments. The LVAA will perform detailed vulnerability assessments, ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards (e.g., JSIG and RMF), and oversee proactive threat mitigation and Continuous Monitoring Programs. This role also includes leading a team of vulnerability analysts to maintain system-wide security and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical and non-technical risk and vulnerability assessments across R2C2 environments using tools such as ACAS, Splunk SIEM, STIG Viewer, and other cyber auditing platforms
  • Analyze security control implementation using STIGs to ensure JSIG and RMF compliance
  • Prioritize identified risks and propose resolutions, developing detailed Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M)
  • Maintain system patch/update plans, ensuring timely remediation of vulnerabilities
  • Lead the execution and documentation of real-time cyber monitoring processes, generating incident and deficiency reports for review
  • Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) reports for the R2C2 CPO, summarizing vulnerabilities and compliance status
  • Sustain Authorizations to Operate (ATO) Body of Evidence (BoE) artifacts, including updating SSPs and maintaining compliant network and data flow diagrams
  • Ensure complete and accurate RMF documentation for government submissions
  • Supervise and mentor Vulnerability Assessment Analysts, fostering a high-performing team capable of scaling cybersecurity efforts across growing environments
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active Security+ CE certification or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing vulnerability assessments and managing continuous cybersecurity compliance initiatives
  • Strong hands-on experience with tools like ACAS, Splunk SIEM, and STIG Viewer
  • Demonstrated prior involvement in producing ATO packages, POA&Ms, and patch/update plans
  • Deep understanding of RMF practices, JSIG requirements, and DoD cybersecurity
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced certifications such as CISSP, GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender (GCED), or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • Proven ability to lead Agile-based cybersecurity teams and implement methodologies to improve team efficiency (e.g., faster patching and streamlined reporting)
  • Experience with NIST Cybersecurity Frameworks, DISA STIGs, and related defense-grade compliance standards
Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field

Clearance Requirement

Active Top-Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) access
