Our client, a leading organization supporting national security and Intelligence Community initiatives, is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer (MBSE) to provide enterprise-wide systems engineering and integration support. This role focuses on applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering practices to define system architectures, manage interfaces, and ensure traceability of requirements to technical solutions. The position involves developing and maintaining system models using tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, as well as leveraging computer-based simulations to analyze and optimize the performance of complex systems.
Locations:
Washington, DC Metro Area (NOVA/Chantilly/Arlington/Fairfax and surrounding) and Aurora, CO (Greater Denver area)
Key Responsibilities:
Apply MBSE principles to create, update, and maintain system models (using Cameo Systems Modeler or equivalent tools)
Implement Digital Engineering practices and supporting tool chains to improve design, integration, and test workflows
Develop and utilize simulations for performance analysis and optimization of complex systems
Collaborate effectively with government, military, SETA, and contractor stakeholders in a team environment
Support systems installation, integration, and test activities
Participate in Request for Change (RFC) impact reviews and assessment processes
Contribute to meeting customer NSIS requirements and rapid delivery methods
Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across contract and location boundaries
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred)
Minimum 8+ years of prior relevant engineering experience (or 6+ years for P3-level consideration)
Practical, hands-on experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including system modeling with Cameo Systems Modeler (or equivalent tools)
Familiarity with Digital Engineering practices and associated tool chains
Proficiency in high-level programming languages (e.g., Python)
Demonstrated technical engineering abilities combined with project management experience
Proven ability to collaborate in multi-stakeholder environments (Government, Military, SETA, Contractor)
Active and transferable TS/SCI with CI Polygraph U.S. government-issued security clearance (required prior to start date)
U.S. citizenship required
Desired Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with systems installation, integration, and test activities
Proficiency in additional relevant programming languages (e.g., C++)
Experience conducting Request for Change (RFC) impact reviews and assessments
Familiarity with customer NSIS requirements and rapid delivery methodologies
Demonstrated strong customer relationships and stakeholder engagement
Experience working effectively across contract and geographic boundaries
Proficiency with Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, and other collaborative engineering tools
Excellent oral and written communication skills to clearly convey complex technical concepts
