Responsibilities for the Microsoft Security Engineer:
- Collaborative Attack Surface Reduction: Partner with architecture and systems teams to implement threat protections across the Microsoft 365 E5 Security stack, supporting the management of Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, and Defender for Cloud.
- Unified Infrastructure & Endpoint Hardening: Support the orchestration of hands-on security baselines across the global fleet and secure enclaves-including Domain Controllers and Windows Servers / Workstations-utilizing Microsoft Intune and Group Policy (GPO) to apply Microsoft Security Baselines and industry best practices.
- Cloud Security Execution: Drive measurable risk reduction by remediating top-tier findings in Microsoft Security Exposure Management and Secure Score; ensuring the integrity of global cloud identities and workloads through direct technical remediation and secure image lifecycle management.
Qualifications for the Microsoft Security Engineer:
- Technical Proficiency: 3+ years of hands-on experience in Systems Engineering or Security Operations with a focus on M365 E5, Intune/GPO policy management, and Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management.
- Analytical Problem-Solving: An investigative mindset with the ability to connect disparate data points-from log entries to attack paths-to understand the "why" behind security gaps and pull the thread until the full picture is clear.
- Adaptability & Growth Mindset: A "perpetual student" approach to cybersecurity, demonstrating the ability to pivot quickly from legacy technologies to cloud-native security tools without losing momentum.
- Risk Business Acumen: The ability to balance security controls with operational efficiency, understanding that security exists to support the business, not to act as a bottleneck.
Compensation for the Microsoft Security Engineer:
- $120,000 to $140,000 *Depending on Experience
