Program: Air Force Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM)
Location: High Point, NC
Structure: 6 Month Contract to Permanent, you will convert perm after 6 months
Clearance: Secret
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
(HS diploma or Associate’s degree with 7+ years of Wireless Engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree)
Strong understanding of:
WiFi technologies
Network protocols
Routing and switching
Hands on expertise with Cisco wireless networks, controllers, and Access Points
Hands‑on experience with Ekahau AI Pro and associated wireless survey tools
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
Role Overview
Insight Global is seeking a Wireless Network Engineer to support the Air Force Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) program. This role plays a critical part in modernizing and standardizing the Air Force’s network architecture by delivering secure, high‑performance wireless solutions across mission‑critical installations.
From site surveys and predictive analysis to design, engineering, and implementation, this position directly contributes to improving mission readiness and operational reliability across Air Force locations.
Role & Responsibilities
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Wireless (WiFi) network equipment, architectures, and implementation procedures
Assess, design, engineer, maintain, and troubleshoot wired and wireless network solutions
Perform hands‑on (“touch labor”) support for network devices
Design enterprise wireless architectures, including:
Hardware, software, and communications components
Support for current requirements and future cross‑functional scalability
Conduct analytical evaluations of:
Network workflows
Usage patterns
Organizational and capacity planning issues
Develop and implement corrective actions to optimize performance and reliability
Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering staff
Communicate technical concepts clearly and professionally, both written and verbal
Present designs, findings, and recommendations in a business‑focused manner
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
On a daily basis, the Wireless Network Engineer will collaborate with program stakeholders, engineering teams, and Air Force personnel to survey, design, and deploy wireless infrastructure across installations. This includes leveraging predictive analysis tools, validating coverage and performance, resolving operational issues, and ensuring compliance with security and architectural standards. The role balances hands‑on engineering work with design planning, documentation, and stakeholder communication in a fast‑paced, mission‑critical environment.
