Synertex LLC is seeking a Software Engineer to support a U.S. Federal Government Agency in McLean, VA / Pentagon.

We are expanding work on a current contract and need a Software Engineer with experience in both front and back-end development to provide innovative solutions to the client's most pressing requirements. Additionally, the Software Developer will have a keen understanding of open-source data development tools and processes.

This is a hybrid remote position based in the Northern Virginia area. The candidate will be required to travel to the classified work site in McLean, VA and/or the Pentagon up to 3 times per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work within a team environment to develop a software-based platform that will facilitate rapid decision making and increased situational awareness across a variety of users, disciplines, and geographic locations.
  • Build robust, maintainable, well documented, and well tested enterprise-level applications.
  • Design and engineer front-end UI components using React.js, TypeScript, Material UI, and modern JavaScript frameworks to deliver intuitive data visualization interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain back-end services using Python, Django, FastAPI , and/or Golang, including RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Design and implement asynchronous data ingest and processing pipelines leveraging message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), database triggers, and multi-threaded/multi-process architectures to aggregate data from multiple sources.
  • Containerize applications using Docker / Docker Compose and support CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Workflows, GitLab CI/CD) for automated build, test, and deployment.
  • Work on developing, integrating, and operationalizing full-stack advanced analytic web applications through the Authority to Operate (ATO) process on classified networks.
  • Integrate with relational and NoSQL database technologies including PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch /ELK Stack, and AWS RDS Aurora.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with the customer and other team members, including managers, data scientists, DevOps engineers, and other senior and junior/midlevel developers.
  • Participate in Agile/Sc rum ceremonies and collaborate using JIRA, Confluence, and Git-based version control workflows.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
  • 6-10 years of software development experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Software Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience and knowledge of web application development using Python and Django
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript) and UI component libraries (Material UI, ElasticUI )
  • Experience using Docker / Docker Compose for containerization and deployment
  • Knowledge and experience of classified government networks and Amazon Web Services (AWS) including RDS Aurora, ECS/EKS, VPC, ALB, S3, EC2, and CloudFormation
  • Linux / UNIX experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Familiarity with Government ATO application compliance, approval, and deployment
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and search/analytics platforms ( ElasticSearch , Kibana)


DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with Golang for REST/RPC microservices development
  • Experience with FastAPI , Flask, or Next.js/Nest.js frameworks
  • Experience with message queuing and event-driven architectures (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (Jenkins, GitHub Actions/Workflows, GitLab CI/CD, Artifactory)
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with Ansible, CloudFormation, or Terraform
  • Data science or machine learning exposure ( Jupyter Notebooks, TensorFlow, PyTorch , Pandas, NumPy)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent IA baseline certification
  • Experience with geospatial visualization libraries ( OpenLayers , ESRI)
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to team members, lead application architecture discussions, and mentor less experienced developers
