Job Description
The Security Advisor supports the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) within the U.S. Department of State, focusing on the Office of Security Technology (ST) and the Countermeasures Program (CMP). Leads assessments on how emerging technologies affect security practices, develops countermeasures and policy recommendations, and provides senior-level guidance on SCI security, access control, and facility accreditation. Represents ST in interagency working groups (e.g., CNSS, NIST, OSPB) and advises on technical security exceptions, policy interpretation, and requests for guidance.

Job Description

Key Duties
- Lead research and evaluation of new technologies and recommend countermeasures.
- Serve as principal SCI technical security advisor; counsel senior security managers.
- Participate in CNSS, NIST, and OSPB working groups to shape policy.
- Advise ST on FAM/FAH policy development and interpretation.
- Represent ST on technical security exceptions and guidance requests.
- Current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in security studies, management, or related field.
- 5+ years as a senior security official/authority within the IC.
- Expertise in SCI security, access control, and facility accreditation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; excellent communication skills.
