Duties

  • Conduct formal and informal briefing and training classes concerning physical security.
  • Deliver recommendations to stakeholders on solutions for meeting physical security requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement security plans and procedures across the installation.
  • Develop policies and procedures to safeguard government property and equipment.
  • Conduct on site site-surveys on new or modified security systems in accordance with compliance standards.
  • Evaluate contract proposals to ensure agency requirements are met.
  • Prepare correspondence for stakeholders clarifying requirements and outline recommendations.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Physical Security Course Certification within their first two years of employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Must sign agreement acknowledging this is an obligated position and are willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years.
  • Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Assisting in conducting physical security assessments and inspections; (2) Participating in providing security recommendations related to hardware, equipment and detection systems ; (3) Preparing reports on security related findings and corrective action recommendations and analyzing information relating to designated security requirements to ensure compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Education
