Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Conducting investigations on committed crimes; 2) Responding to crime scene to collect and preserve evidence; 3) Preparing case reports to be used during the judicial process; and 4) Ensure proper packaging, storage, and accountability of evidence.

- Conduct investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing the crime.
- Capture information in writing to be used in the investigation process.
- Responsible for the proper documentary control of the safe and secure storage of all evidence obtained during investigations.
- Serve as point of contact for civil law enforcement agencies required to serve due process to military and civilian personnel.
- Serve as the primary evidence custodian for the police department.
Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- Incumbent is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony in accordance with Section 639 of P.L. 106-554 effective January 20, 2001.
- Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
- In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
- Incumbent must possess a valid state drivers license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator license.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Tier 3 (Secret) security investigation.
- Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Incumbents must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy; unless incumbent has an approved waiver/exception from the Office of the Provost Marshal General, IAW AR 190-56.
- Incumbents must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Military Police School (USAMPS) Military Police Investigator Course or complete within one year of hire date.
