AMO, an Akima company, is looking add for aLinux System Administratorwith a Top Secret clearance to the team in Summerville, SC. This full-time position will support the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) network as a Linux Systems Administrator responsible for sustaining and securing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) infrastructure in classified and unclassified environments.
This role provides hands-on Linux administration, virtualization support, STIG remediation, Splunk sustainment, and automation capabilities across lab and enterprise systems. The ideal candidate has strong RHEL 8/9 experience, cybersecurity remediation expertise, and scripting proficiency in support of DoD operational environments.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations. Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

Linux Administration & Infrastructure Support
- Install, configure, and maintain RHEL 8 & 9 servers (RHEL 8/9 exposure required).
- Perform server and workstation installations, technology refreshes, and system upgrades.
- Maintain IT infrastructure endpoint devices and external workstation hardware.
- Install and configure authorized software packages.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Administer accounts and groups via Red Hat Identity Management (IdM).
- Configure and administer LVM (Logical Volume Management).
- Manage patching and package administration using YUM/DNF.
- Write custom start scripts for applications and services.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Support Linux systems operating in virtualized environments (VMware, vCenter).
- Assist with infrastructure integration and sustainment activities.
- Lead and assist with infrastructure projects as needed.
- Implement and remediate STIG findings and vulnerabilities identified through ACAS and other security tools.
- Perform system maintenance and patching in compliance with DoD security standards.
- Continuously analyze system posture and identify security risks and recommended mitigation strategies.
- Maintain all qualifications required under the Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) framework for Privileged Access Administrator (PAA).
- Provide architecture guidance and assist with deployment and configuration of the Splunk solution.
- Troubleshoot Splunk issues and support sustainment and maintenance of Splunk infrastructure.
- Support Linux-based applications such as Splunk, Satellite, and Ansible Tower.
- Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Demonstrate fluency in scripting for automation and administrative efficiency.
- Work independently and collaboratively to research data and develop analytical techniques and methodologies.
Qualifications
- Active Top-Secret clearance
- Master's level degree in any engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of professional experience supporting Linux systems.
- Strong experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8 & 9 required).
- Experience supporting virtualized environments (VMware/vCenter).
- Experience with STIG implementation and ACAS vulnerability remediation.
- Experience administering Splunk in Linux environments.
- Experience with IdM, LVM, patching, and package management (YUM/DNF).
- Strong scripting skills for automation.
- Maintain all CSWF PAA qualification requirements.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
- Ansible Automation certifications.
- ACAS Operator and Supervisor Course (cyber.mil).
(Required per DoD standards to be an ACAS User or Administrator)
