CODEplus is currently seeking a Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (NTP) Systems Engineer that will work in a highly integrated team performing technical and integration activities to support NASA in Huntsville, AL.
The Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (NTP) Systems Engineer will work in a highly integrated team performing technical and integration activities to support main propulsion system development and risk reduction efforts
Key Responsibilities:
Primary duties for the Propulsion Systems Engineer may include, but are not limited to:
Primary duties for the NTP Systems Engineer may include, but are not limited to:
• Data analysis and anomaly resolution as needed.
Develop models and analysis tools, provide analytical documentation such as trade studies, hazards assessments, fault tolerance designs, certifications for flight, and data reviews.
Provide insight and recommendations for subsystem and vehicle in-space environment model fidelity.
Evaluate performance of system models in ground and flight operations
Attend technical interchange, project planning, design review and other appropriate meetings to maintain a current knowledge base of design, requirements, issues, action items, and resolution activities.
Perform system assessments, identify issues, pursue resolutions, document and present to engineering review board with rationale and recommendations.
Evaluate vehicle changes for impacts to propulsion elements and vehicle integration.
Verification and validation reviews for propulsion components, subsystems and integrated vehicle.
Perform analysis and provide systems engineering skills to support various program engineering and integration.
Required Qualifications :
BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Masters with at least 3 years of experience, or a BS with at least 5 years of experience.

The selected candidate should also demonstrate:
Experience with liquid or gas propulsion system design, analysis, engine integration or development/verification testing.
Integration experience at the vehicle or stage level to include technical and systems engineering activities.
Experience with fluid systems modeling
Capability to plan and perform systems engineering and analysis tasks independently and as a team.
Work Environment:
Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (
