- As a Detective, you will perform the following duties:
- Provide investigation services for violations of Federal, state, county and DA statues, laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- Conduct complete investigations of alleged criminal violations including theft, assault, shoplifting, child abuse, child neglect, adultery unlawful entry, juvenile misconduct or any other types of criminal violations.
- Take statements from victims, analyze facts to develop case information, maintain integrity of information or evidence for prosecution.
- Responsible for the proper documentary control of the safe and secure storage of all evidence obtained during investigations, raids, etc.
- Identify suspects and develop case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspects to trial.
Conditions of employment
- This position requires a Tier 3 Secret background investigation.
- Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
- Successfully graduated from the USAMPS Military Police Investigator Course or complete within one year of hire date.
- Must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification related to law enforcement work functions to include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System requirements
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56:---Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter. Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- TDY travel is occasionally required.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
