Duties

  • Uses a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems.
  • May inspect heavy mobile artillery, small arms, powered support, optical, and other equipment or components of equal or lesser complexity.
  • Conducts inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc.
  • Uses various types of test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, AN/GRM-122s, and other electronic testing devices to inspect equipment and components.
  • Inspects equipment when received to determine repairs needed and parts required.
  • Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed.
  • Considers a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical.
  • Serves as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Pre-placement or baseline physical are required for newly hired or appointed Wage Grade personnel who may be potentially exposed to health hazards in the work environment.
  • Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.
Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Maximum Military Grade - Warrant Officer: CW4 (W-4) with a date of rank after 30 DEC 2019

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.

WG-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience or training that provided the ability to use principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment; experience inspecting and diagnosing problems to determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems; experience making and inspecting mechanical repairs that require the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment; experience using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc.; and experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

Education

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
