Duties

As an Administrative Assistant, GS-0303-7, you will:
  • Maintains the appointment schedule for the HRO and the DHRO
  • Advises the HRO and the DHRO of scheduled appointments and furnishes information from files or schedules briefings by others in preparation for scheduled meetings.
  • Assists in the development of policy letters which may require researching applicable directives from higher authority, to ensure that no conflict will result from issuance of new policy.
  • Reviews incoming correspondence, publications, regulations, and directives, which may affect the HRO, or programs within the HRO's purview relative to both the Army and Air National Guard
  • Provides limited technical assistance to Human Resources Specialists within the office and to managers, supervisors, and technicians of the serviced organization for a wide range of human resources matters.
  • Performs duties as HRO Publications Officer. Coordinates with both Army and Air Force publications sources to accomplish ordering, locating electronic publications, updating, and maintaining a current and complete publications library for the HRO
  • Submits work orders for repairs and maintenance on HRO office equipment and facilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: E-4 to E-6

Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments

Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.

*Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1)

Qualifications

General Experience:
Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems.

Specialized Experience:
Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws. Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience demonstrating the ability to advise lower graded employees. Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control.
