Overview
The Project Support: Security Specialist/Document Reviewer is responsible for evaluating, validating, and supporting reviews of documentation related to personnel investigations. The position highly favors operational experience in NASA's Identity Management and Account Exchange (IdMAX). This role provides foundational experience in workflow management, professional communication, and process improvement while directly supporting senior security specialists.

Bachelors degree with 0-2 years or more of related professional experience or 4+ years of related experience in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities:
Investigation Case Review
- Conduct quality control review of documentation related to background investigations.
- Ensure investigations meet required standards prior to submission.
- Document review findings in accordance with policy and communicate with customers as needed.
IdMAX Workflow Management
- Monitor investigation-related tasks in IdMAX.
- Validate identity attributes and access authorization triggers.
- Ensure timely updates and status accuracy.
- Generate reports for leadership as required.
Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with:
- Team members
- Customers
- Personnel Security
- HR and Suitability Offices
- Provide clarification on investigation status and access implications.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Identify process inefficiencies.
- Recommend workflow improvements.
- Support audits and compliance reviews.
Qualifications:
Required Technical Competencies:
Personnel Security & Investigative Review
- Ability to review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
Personnel Security Proficiency
- Familiarity with:
- Role-based access controls
- Identity lifecycle events
- Investigation status tracking and reporting
Security Requirements
- Secret Clearance: Candidate must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must complete required training.
- Must adhere to Privacy Act and information safeguarding requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Operational experience in NASA's Identity Management and Account Exchange (IdMAX)
- Prior experience within Personnel Security operations. Knowledge of investigation tiers, position risk/sensitivity levels.
- Experience supporting federal clearance adjudication environments.
- Familiarity with:
- Position designation tools
- e-QIP/eApp
- Access control systems (logical and physical)

- Working knowledge of federal privacy requirements.

- Proactive follow-up skills to ensure timely completion of required submissions.
- Advanced proficiency with office software (email, spreadsheets, tracking tools, databases).
- Team collaboration skills to support security personnel and administrative staff.
