Duties

  • Serve as a Shift Supervisor for the Law Enforcement force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at Installation Management Command (IMCOM) supported installations.
  • Provide sworn testimony based on investigative findings.
  • Direct the work of assigned law enforcement officers.
  • Manage all aspects of personnel administration such as evaluating performance, resolving complaints and administering discipline.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position requires incumbent successfully graduate(d) from the US Army Civilian Police Academy or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Incumbent must successfully pass training and qualification requirements related to law enforcement. These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications and National Incident Management System training requirements.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 to pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing law enforcement activities such as patrol, criminal investigations, forensics, data analysis, administration, community outreach, and tactical operations; 2) Providing training and guidance on law enforcement regulations and procedures; and 3) Leading security or law enforcement teams. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
