OCONUS Secret Cleared Field Service Technician

Title: Field Service Technician – DoD Wired Infrastructure (Air Force/Space Force Bases)

Overview
We’re seeking hands-on Field Service Technician to modernize wired network infrastructure (ISP/OSP distribution) across Air Force and Space Force bases worldwide. This role combines field surveys, design input, implementation oversight, and rigorous documentation, with a strong emphasis on security, base access, and DoD-specific processes. Extensive travel and an active Secret clearance are required.

Key Responsibilities
-Lead field surveys and site assessments to document existing ISP/OSP wired networks and identify modernization opportunities.
-Design input and coordination for wired network upgrades, including backbone, distribution, and access layers (fiber, copper, and associated transition pathways).
-Provide implementation oversight, troubleshooting, and hands-on support during installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
-Conduct fiber testing/validation (e.g., OTDR, power measurements) and ensure adherence to DoD standards and project timelines.
-Produce accurate network diagrams and as-built documentation using Visio and CAD tools; maintain version-controlled documentation.
-Manage base access and security coordination, including interfacing with base IT/security offices and adhering to security polices and procedures.
-Collaborate with internal technical teams, base personnel, and external vendors to ensure cohesive project execution.
-Maintain compliance with safety, security, and DoD change-management practices; document all modifications and test results.
-Travel globally as required, with schedules aligning to base availability and mission priorities.

Required Qualifications
-Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain/maintain) and eligibility for DoD access.
-DoD IT upgrade project experience required at all levels.
-Field engineering experience in wired network modernization, preferably in regulated or defense environments.
-Hands-on fiber testing/validation experience (e.g., OTDR, fusion splicing, test equipment familiarity).
-Proficiency with network documentation tools (Visio) and CAD applications for network schematics and as-built drawings.
-Strong coordination and communication skills; demonstrated ability to work with base personnel, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
-Willingness to travel extensively, including international assignments, and to work in potentially austere or secure environments.

Nice-to-have Qualifications
-Certifications: CCNA/CCNP, fiber-testing certifications, or equivalent; DoD security training or awareness certifications.
-Experience with security clearance processes, COMSEC awareness, or ICD/SSI considerations.
-Experience with base access logistics, security offices, and compliance documentation.
-Familiarity with project management concepts (scope, risk, change management) as they apply to DoD infrastructure projects.

Compensation
$35/hr to $40/hr.
