Support mission-critical infrastructure for the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) network in North Charleston, SC.
The Senior Windows Administrator provides hands-on engineering and sustainment support across Windows-based enterprise environments, virtualization platforms, and cybersecurity compliance initiatives. This role supports both classified and unclassified networks and works closely with ISSOs and cybersecurity teams to ensure systems meet DoD and RMF requirements.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations. Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. May act as lead.

- Support virtual and physical workstation and server configurations.
- Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and security hardening in classified and unclassified network environments.
- Administer Windows 10 (or greater) workstations and Windows Server 2019 environments.
- Support virtualization of Windows systems using VMware ESXi.
- Provide ACAS/Nessus vulnerability scanning and remediation support.
- Administer and support Active Directory environments.
- Monitor system performance, including disk space, utilization, capacity, and availability.
- Support ISSOs in implementing and maintaining cybersecurity standards, including NIST and Risk Management Framework (RMF) C&A requirements.
- Create and maintain user accounts; install and configure hardware and software.
- Perform system backup and recovery operations.
- Administer network security measures in accordance with DoD standards.
- Maintain all qualification(s) required under the Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) framework for Privileged Access Administrator (PAA) roles.
Qualifications
- Active Top Secret Clearance.
- 7+ years of experience supporting Windows enterprise environments.
- Experience with VMware ESXi virtualization.
- Experience supporting ACAS/Nessus vulnerability scanning.
- Experience supporting Active Directory.
- Experience operating in RMF/NIST-aligned environments.
- DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification (e.g., Security+) as required for CSWF/PAA roles.
Desired Certifications
- VMware certification (VCP or equivalent).
- Microsoft Windows Server certification.
- ACAS/Nessus or cybersecurity-related certification.
- Additional DoD 8140-aligned certifications.
