Support mission-critical infrastructure for the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) network as an Enterprise Support Services (ESS) Administrator.

This role is responsible for integrating, sustaining, and securing virtualized enterprise infrastructure across classified and unclassified environments. The ESS Administrator supports Windows and Linux systems, virtualization platforms, cybersecurity compliance initiatives, and centralized monitoring systems in a complex DoD lab and test environment.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations. Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. May act as lead.

Virtualization & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Integrate and sustain virtualized infrastructure in VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V environments.
  • Use VMware vSphere and Hyper-V virtualization platforms to support planning, troubleshooting, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Support virtual machine builds, deployments, and system integration in RDT&E lab environments.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux systems supporting lab and test operations.

Enterprise Systems Administration

  • Assist in the management of Windows domains and provide desktop and server administration support.
  • Maintain configuration baselines and technical documentation; support controlled change implementation.
  • Configure and maintain ESS environments across classified and unclassified networks.
  • Implement DoD-mandated security configurations and industry best practices for Host-Based Security System (HBSS).
  • Install and maintain security patches on HBSS servers.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues affecting enterprise and lab systems.
  • Utilize centralized monitoring dashboards to identify performance degradation and drive corrective actions.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Support ESS administration requirements in accordance with DoD standards.
  • Implement and maintain security configurations in compliance with DoD and program requirements.
  • Maintain all qualification(s) required under the Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) framework for Privileged Access Administrator (PAA) roles.
  • Assist other functional areas with technical requirements as mission priorities dictate.

Collaboration & Operational Support

  • Work as part of an integrated team including system administrators, network engineers, service desk analysts, and cybersecurity personnel.
  • Support configuration management activities and maintain alignment with approved baselines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure and security posture.


Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in systems engineering.
  • Experience supporting VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V environments.
  • Experience administering Windows Server and Linux systems.
  • Experience operating within classified DoD environments.
  • Ability to maintain ESS administration standards in accordance with DoD requirements.
  • Maintain all qualifications required under the CSWF framework for PAA roles,

Desired Certifications / Training

  • DISA ESS 201 (cyber.mil) - Required per DoD standards to be an ESS Administrator.
  • DISA ESS 301 (cyber.mil) - Required per DoD standards to be an ESS Administrator.
  • ACAS Operator and Supervisor Course (cyber.mil).
  • Windows Server and Workstation training.
  • Current SQL Server version training.
  • Experience transitioning ESS capabilities toward Windows Defender-based security solutions.
