Waypoint's client is seeking a talented Database Administrator to join their team! In this role, you will get to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of the customer's systems, ensuring they meet both current and future needs.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Providing statistical and mathematical support to analyze and interpret a wide range of data in order to provide customer solutions.
- Working with various stakeholders to present and operationalize data to achieve actionable insights that drive customer strategy and decisions.
- Administering, maintaining, and optimizing databases to ensure high availability, reliability, security, and performance.
- Supporting the ingestion, integration, and organization of unstructured, semi-structured, and structured data to enable advanced analytic capabilities.
- Implementing and monitoring database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Collaborating with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and other technical teams to support data-driven solutions and analytics workflows.
- Documenting database structures, configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in statistics, mathematics, image science, remote sensing, earth science, physical science, computer science, information systems, or a related technical or scientific field; or equivalent education and experience.
- Appropriate experience working with data-centric systems, including developing, manipulating, and maintaining databases.
- Advanced level proficiency with MS Office and demonstrated experience with data mining and database administration tasks.
- Experience with COTS statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, MATLAB), COTS desktop software (MS Office and Access), and the Windows operating environment.
- Experience with software packages and tools used for advanced statistical analysis of operational data and data visualization.
- Ability to develop mathematical algorithms and applications in response to complex requirements.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively as a team member.
- Experience leveraging a range of data sources (e.g., web traffic, customer requests for information, survey responses, production databases) to understand and improve customer experience.
- Experience identifying systems enhancements and new capabilities, including development of concept demonstrators and capability business cases.
- Ability to provide training as new systems and capabilities move into operational use, and to take leadership roles on technical teams or consortiums.
- Demonstrated participation in and/or leadership of highly skilled technical and analytical teams responsible for developing solutions to complex analytical or intelligence problems.
- Understanding of customer policies such as international policy, co-production, and dissemination of data (desired).
- Strength in collaboration and teamwork within, between, and across organizational boundaries.
