Job Overview
Chugach is seeking a Subject Matter Expert 2 (MUOS) to provide high-level engineering and technical expertise to the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and other customers while conducting MUOS Installation support. The Subject Matter Expert 2 performs non-routine and complex assignments involving the responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts contact personnel is related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates and technical work of others. Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Complete work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for MUOS for USCG Cutters and Shore stations.
- Assist in creating and editing job aids and training documentation as needed.
- Provide integration, installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance support, and technical training assistance as required.
- Knowledge and use of systems include but are not limited to:
- AN/PRC117G
- AN/PRC158
- AN/ARC-210
- Perform related work as assigned in an unsupervised, reactive, and mission-critical environment.
Accountable For:
- Excellent oral communication skills, including customer interactions, formal and informal training, and meeting facilitation.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the development and editing of business, operational, and technical documents, as well as engineering changes, meeting and trip reports, Maintenance Procedures (MPCs), training materials, and after-action reports.
- Ability to deal with people professionally and courteously.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize one's work as well as that of assigned personnel.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, as required.
- Ability to research and analyze operational data.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Must be a US citizen
- Must have or be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance
- Background in MUOS communication
- Minimum 5 years' experience providing technical support for C4I systems and programs.
- Education: Associate's Degree in "Relevant Technical Field", Engineering Technology, or "Acceptable Education Substitution".
- Acceptable E ducation Substitution: Ten (10) years of practical experience, to include: integration, installation and testing of C4I systems;
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test
Preferred:
- Navy/Coast Guard/Air Force, IT or ET experienced with Communication systems and ancillaries.
- DOD technical communication School
- MUOS subject matter expert
Working Conditions:
- Onboard USCG Cutters, at the pier, and underway.
- Desk and classroom work at various locations.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of ascending shipboard ladders
- Capable of working at heights (shipboard masts and rooftop antenna locations)
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
