This role will be an integral part of the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Systems Engineering (SE) Team. The SE/Platform SME will participate in Systems Engineering activities across all phases of simulation environment development, acquisition, operation, and sustainment. The SE/SME will possess the ability to understand air vehicle system architecture, design and subsystems integration, and mission systems avionics; as well as how platforms integrate and operate in the dynamic simulation environment (JSE).
As Platform SME and core member of the JSE systems engineering team, the incumbent will:
• Possess subject matter expert level knowledge of at least one established platform used to support USAF real-world and flight test activities (B-2, RQ-4 , F-35, F-22, F-47, CCA, B-21, other). Knowledge will focus on mission systems design and integration through recent experience as aircrew or engineer in either a test unit (DT or OT), or an emerging technology and developmental organization (Air Force or contractor) associated with military air vehicle systems. Using this knowledge, the SE/SME will act as the local expert on air vehicle systems, sensor and vehicle environmental interactions, and test use cases.
• Support and participate in test planning, execution, and assessment activities to include functional verification testing, formal verification and validation (V&V), regression testing, and accreditation support activities.
• Develop and maintain close ties within the JSE development community, support platform system program offices, and user communities. The SE/SME will use these relationships to ensure JSE test support models remain current and relevant with respect to the fielded and planned aircraft systems.
• Build a detailed understanding and knowledge of JSE architecture, capabilities, and limitations. The SE/SME will use this knowledge base to support development, integration, and test of JSE baseline capabilities, and to advise external DT and OT organizations to optimize their use of the JSE. The SE/SME may also use their detailed understanding and knowledge of user needs to assist JSE PO on JSE capability roadmap development and implementation.
• Decompose high-level JSE system requirements, develop/decompose derived requirements, and present proposed requirements to requirement approval bodies.
• Plan and conduct System Requirement Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, and Critical design reviews for system and facility acquisition/buildout.
