"The Global Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications program operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Software Engineer primarily joins the Global Track Processing (GTP) team, where they design, develop, and test innovative solutions that support the Missile Defense program. Occasional non-standard hours may be required during critical periods, with minimal travel. The GTP team is essential to the mission, providing accurate global situational awareness to the warfighter through raw sensor data. They are seeking software engineers skilled in maintaining and developing Java applications that rely on efficient algorithms and linear algebra. Ideal candidates are motivated to solve complex problems collaboratively and contribute positively to team camaraderie. This engineer should be eager to complete projects and ready to seek support when needed. Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial for effective collaboration, including clear documentation—such as software code, technical memos, white papers, models, and presentations—which are routine parts of the job.
Essential Functions:
• Should understand the software development lifecycle
• Understanding object-oriented software development and automated testing, along with the ability to analyze high-level needs and define a structured, logical approach to refine the capability into an integrated set of requirements that lead to a fielded product, would be a significant addition
• Should communicate effectively, clearly present technical approaches and findings, and have experience writing and implementing project reports, plans, and status updates
Basic Qualifications:
Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
• Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
• Willingness to travel up to 10% for business needs
• GTP software engineers are expected to have the following professional practical experience:
• 3+ years of Java development experience writing
o unit-testable operational code
o and unit tests exercising said code
• 2+ years in a Linux-based (preferably Red Hat / CentOS / Oracle Linux) environment
• 2+ years with GIT in Linux
• 2+ years with Jira and Confluence
• 1+ years of software modeling using UML
• 1+ years writing & presenting technical documentation to audiences ranging from team members to non-technical customers
• Object-Oriented paradigms
