Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes answering emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatching fire, police and emergency medical personnel and vehicles in accordance with procedures established; operate computer aided dispatching system and automation equipment to log calls, and provide callers with emergency medical assistance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
Education

Additional information
- Provide emergency services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment.
- Provide initial Incident Command support until responding emergency units arrive on scene.
- Monitor computerized fire alarm systems and other alarm systems such as Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection System (ICIDS) alarm systems.
- Maintain an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to ensure prompt and accurate response.
- Operate Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system, telephones, radios, and station alerting systems.
- Provide emergency medical dispatching assistance to callers with medical emergencies.
Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a Secret Clearance.
- Demonstrate proficiency in , CAD, E911, Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and Station Alerting Software and Equipment within 16 weeks from the date of employment.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Incumbent must pass a pre-employment; fingerprint based criminal history investigation for any location that accesses Criminal Justice Information Systems.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certification in: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Medical Dispatch based on the program standards at the location assigned.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a current DoD Telecommunicator I and II (or equivalent) within 6 months of employment.
- Incumbent must complete the National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS 100,300, 700, 800, and 907 courses.
- Continuous current certification is a condition of employment.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential".
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key".
- This position is Mission Essential, In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency situations the incumbent is required to report or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
