The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the design, fabrication, integration, and testing of mechanical systems associated with unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and related mission platforms. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced prototyping and production environment where designs move quickly from concept to build to operational use. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians supporting real-world engineering efforts across multiple active projects.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and modification of mechanical components and assemblies
- Develop and update 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software
- Support fabrication, fit checks, and mechanical integration activities
- Participate in tolerance analysis and basic structural evaluations
- Assist with development of build documentation and assembly instructions
- Support ground testing and validation of mechanical assemblies
- Help troubleshoot mechanical issues and support root cause analysis efforts
- Assist in maintaining engineering documentation and configuration control
- Collaborate with electrical, aerospace, and systems teams during integration efforts
Qualifications:
Required:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling software
- Foundational understanding of mechanics, materials, and manufacturing principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a hands-on lab and fabrication environment
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
- Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance
Desired:
- Experience with prototyping, fabrication, or machine shop environments
- Familiarity with composite materials or additive manufacturing
- Exposure to structural analysis or FEA tools
- Prior internship, lab research, or engineering project team experience
