Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot MySQL (MariaDB) databases deployed with services like AWS RDS and Aurora.
- Cloud platform agnostic with a focus on AWS and Azure.
- Ensure software updates are correctly deployed.
- Manage and use the Git version control system.
- Maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Troubleshoot source code, identify, and correct errors using systems debugging tools.
- Ensure all systems have broad useful instrumentation in place and develop monitoring systems that provide actionable alerts based on those metrics.
- Make use of DevOps tools, such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and Git to write tools that automate everything you are responsible for.
- Build and maintain Kubernetes and cloud centric CI/CD pipeline.
- Support full application lifecycle development by advising developers on how to provide stable and secure code.
- Integrate traditional deployments with serverless platforms such as the Microsoft Power Platform.
Qualifications
- US Citizenship.
- Interim Secret clearance is required; Secret preferred.
- Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of military active duty or 5+ years of experience in a technical or analytical field.
- AWS Associate-level certification and/or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification.
- Strong expertise in DevSecOps methodologies including designing, building and operating reliable systems.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals in the cloud and datacenter.
- General programming experience with JavaScript/Typescript and Bash.
- Knowledge of AWS (CloudFormation, EKS, CloudFront, WAF, and related services).
- Proficiency in Azure including building and maintaining cloud infrastructure and associated services.
- Understanding of security best practices and ability to implement NIST 800-53 in Cloud environments.
- A deep understanding of HTTP performance and security.
- General knowledge of Linux and Kubernetes administration and services.
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of Agile project management.
- Familiarity with traditional virtualization platforms.
- Superb written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) is a plus.
- Remote position, however, candidate must be able to travel within Virginia and Washington DC Metro area.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana (ELK stack).
- Proficiency with networking tools and technologies, including AWS Transit Gateway and Fortinet solutions.
- AWS Professional and/or Specialty certifications (Database, Security, Advanced Networking, or Machine Learning).
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) and/or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
- Knowledge of and certifications in other cloud platforms (GCP, Azure) or private platforms such as OpenShift.
