Junior Cost Estimator

Overview

The applicant will assist a company Subject Matter Expert (SME) with quantifying technical, cost, and schedule risks in a science and technology environment. The position requires at least 1-year of relevant combined industry/government planning experience. Bachelor's degree (B/S) in Management, Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Statistics. \\r\\n\\r\\n

Responsibilities

• The applicant will assist a company Subject Matter Expert (SME) with quantifying technical, cost, and schedule risks in a science and technology environment.
• Applicants will be responsible for developing and delivering cost estimates to the SME for review and eventual delivery to Government customers.
• Applicants will create/maintain cost estimates using Tecolote's ACEIT software (training provided).
• Applicants apply stochastic modeling, statistical and analytical techniques, and convey the meaning of the results to the SME.
• This position interfaces with government personnel on a daily basis.
• Work is primarily performed in Government facilities located on Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB), NM with occasional travel to other government and contractor facilities.

Skills Required

• Applicants must be willing to learn cost estimating to include completing company provided training courses.
• Applicants must possess statistical/quantitative analysis capabilities.
• Proficiency with M/S office applications Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
• Excellent verbal/written communication required.

  • The AFRL/RV is located at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.
  • It serves as the Air Force's center of excellence for space technology research and development, focusing on space-based capabilities such as intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, space situational awareness, communications, defensive space control, and nuclear delivery systems.
  • The Directorate consists of an integrated team of military, civilian, and on-site contractors.
  • AFRL executes the Science and Technology appropriations of the Department of the Air Force (DAF).
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance required.

Education

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in math, engineering, business, or the sciences.
